Easy to make loaf.
Ingredients
  • 1½ kilograms (3½lb) strong brown flour
  • About 750 ml tepid water
  • 15ml (1 tablespoon) sugar
  • 25ml (1½ tablespoons) salt
  • 60ml (4 tablespoons) dried yeast

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Small Bowl
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Loaf Tin
  • Wire Tray
Making and cooking it
Always wash your hands before preparing food Always wash your hands before preparing food.

  1. Mix the yeast with warm water (50°c) and sugar and leave to work
  2. Once the yeast has started working (started foaming) mix it with the flour until it becomes a dough
  3. Leave in a warm place to allow the yeast to make the bread rise i.e. has doubled in size
  4. Bake it for 30 minutes
  5. Remove from oven and leave to cool on wire tray

Super easy and no kneading! Batter White Bread1 pkaacge dry yeast2 tbsp Crisco shortening1 bd c. warm water2 tsp salt2 tbsp. Sugar3 c. all purpose flourDissolve yeast in warm water. Mix Crisco, sugar, salt and 1 bd c. flour in a large bowl. Add yeast, stirring constantly. Beat vigorously as you add the rest of the flour.Cover with cloth and let double in bulk in a warm, but not hot place.Do not punch but stir down. Spoon batter into 10 inch loaf pan and pat with floured hand to shape.Let rise, covered, another 30 minutes. Bake 45 minutes at 375 degrees.Cool slightly and remove from pan. Loaf should have a ‘hollow’ sound when thumped on the bottom. Place loaf on rack and brush top with melted butter.
