Scones make a lovely tea time treat. Once you have tried out the recipe, you can vary it according to taste, maybe putting in some dried fruit, or spices perhaps.
Ingredients
  • 225g self-raising flour
  • 50g butter
  • 120ml milk
  • 25g caster sugar
Equipment
  • A mixing bowl
  • Baking tray
  • Pastry brush
  • Knife
  • Cooling rack
  • Measuring jug

  1. First preheat the oven to 220 c or gas mark 7
  2. Rub the flour and the butter together until they look like breadcrumbs
  3. Now add the sugar and carefully mix it together
  4. Pour in the milk and stir the mixture using a knife
  5. Bring the mixture together and divide into eight balls
  6. Grease the baking the tray and place the eight balls onto it
  7. Brush the uncooked scones with milk for a glossy finish
  8. Put them into the oven and bake for 25 minutes
  9. Once cooked let them cool on a rack
