Ingredients
- 50g plain flour
- 1 egg
- 150ml milk
- pinch of salt
- small amount of lard
Healthier version
Using vegetarian margarine would make this suitable for vegetarians.
Equipment
- Mixing bowl
- Tray with twelve batter places
- Wooden spoon
- Scales
- Measuring jug
Making and cooking it

- Mix flour and salt together
- Make a well in the centre and break in the egg
- Add half the milk and begin to mix slowly
- Beat mixture until it's smooth
- Add rest of milk
- Beat until mixture has tiny bubbles
- Add bits of lard to tray indentations
- Poor mixture into batter tin
- Cook at 220c for 20 minutes
