A lovely basic cupcake recipe, with an Olympic theme.
  1. 100g (4 oz) soft butter
  2. 100g (4oz) caster sugar
  3. 100g (4oz) self-raising flour
  4. pinch of baking powder
  5. 2 eggs - at room temperature
  • For the Icing: 100g icing sugar ,enough warm water to make a stiff paste
  • To decorate : Red and blue sweets

  • Cake cases about 12
  • Wire rack
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Small bowl
  • Mixing spoon
  • Fork
  • Teaspoon
  • Oven gloves
Making and cooking it
Always wash your hands before preparing food Always wash your hands before preparing food.

  1. Put cake cases in the bun (patty) tin 
  2. Turn on the oven to 185C / 375F / Gas no 5
  3. Cream the butter and caster sugar together in the until light and fluffy
  4. Break the eggs into the small bowl and whisk with a fork
  5. Add the eggs, baking powder and flour a little at a time, mixing in until smooth
  6. Drop a large teaspoon of mixture into each of the  cake cases
  7. Bake for about 20  minutes(until golden and well risen)
  8. Take from the oven and cool on wire rack
  9. When they are cool, make the icing up and spoon a little onto the centre of each 
  10. Add a sweet to decorate.
