Bread and butter pudding was a great way to use up bread that wasn't fresh enough to eat but was still too good to throw away. It is a very cheap dish to make and tasty too.

Ingredients
- 3 slices of white bread
- 25g soft margarine
- 25g sultanas
- 1 egg
- 250mls milk
- 25g sugar
Equipment
- oven proof dish
- butter knife
- board
- mixing bowl
- fork
- measuring jug for milk
- scales to weigh out
Making and cooking it

- Put the oven on gas 4 or electric 150c
- Remove crusts and spread margarine on each side of the bread
- Cut each slice into quarters
- Put half of the bread into a dish and add the sultanas and half the sugar
- cover with the remaining bread and sprinkle with the rest of the sugar
- beat the egg with the milk and pour over the bread. Leave for 15mins
- Put into the oven and cook for 30minutes until set and golden brown
