This is Chloe's soup, one of the soups made by pupils for the Spaldwick Community Primary School Soup Competition.

  • 1 can of chopped tomatoes
  • 1 onion freely chopped
  • 1 x 15ml spoon (tablespoon) of rapeseed oil
  • 900ml (1½ pints) of vegetable stock
  • 120ml (½ cup) dry white wine
  • 2 x 15ml spoon (tablespoon) tomato putee
  • pinch shredded basil
  • basil leaves (few)
  • double cream
  • 125g (5oz) macaroni
  • handful of brussel sprouts
  • Knife
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Saucepan

Making and cooking it

  1. Heat the oil and fry the onion until soft but not brown
  2. Stir in the tomatoes and the stock
  3. Add the white wine and tomato puree
  4. Cook for 10 minutes stiring occasionally
  5. Add the shredded basil
  6. Add the macaroni and boil for 5 minutes
  7. Add the brussel sprouts for 5 minutes
  8. Take off the heat
  9. Serve into bowls
  10. Put a splash of cream in each bowl
  11. Add the basil leaves
