This is Tim's soup, one of the soups made by pupils for the Spaldwick Community Primary School Soup Competition.

Ingredients
  • 1 butternut squash
  • 1 cloves of garlic
  • 25g (1 oz) butter
  • 2 vegetable stock cubes
  • 900ml (1½ pints) of water
  • 600ml (1 pint) of milk
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg

  • Saucepan
Making and cooking it

  1. Cut the butternut squash in half, clean out and discard the seeds
  2. Peel and cut into cubes
  3. Finely slice the garlic
  4. Put the garlic, squash and butter into a saucepan and cook for 20 minutes
  5. Add the vegetable stock cubes, water, milk and nutmeg to the saucepan and simmer for 30 minutes
