We did this for sunday tea in the war years from milk from the farm. It took us kids ages and our arms ached but it was lovely with Mums home made jam. Thank you so much for your comment about butter in the war years. We are always keen to hear about people's experiences. The Cookit Team.

We made this in school when I was a kid after a visit to a local milk plant. We used whole cream and no milk and it was so delicious I remember the taste, now 60 years later! Thank you very much for your comment, we love to hear about what food means to people. The Cookit Team

I accidently made butter once. I don't know if it was proper butter though. It happened when I over whisked some double cream. I added a pinch of salt and we put it on our toast and in our sandwiches. It was nice
